Mapping birds already on my lifelist

After adding birds to my lifelist, I’ve been going back to map them. I click either on “map it” or “edit”. Either way, it seems to add another sighting. Then I have to go back and delete the original “unmapped” sighting. Am I doing something wrong or is there a way to avoid this?

I think that’s the way it’s supposed to work. I’ve noticed it to, but it does not increase the number of birds sighted. It records multiple sightings of specific birds. If you actually are mapping your initial sighting, you may want to delete the first entry, just to be neat.
