Regional vs My List
I realized that if I add a bird to my lifelist and locate it in a map it doesn’t appear in the regional checklist…is there any way this can be done? |
Hector - Thanks for asking. Any sightings placed onto the maps should appear as recent sightings on any corresponding regional pages. In addition, if you report birds in a given region, you are then ranked in that region. If those sightings aren’t appearing on the regional pages, then this is a bug that needs correcting. We will see that it gets fixed right away. Thanks again for the feedback. Ben Crockett |

I think this is happening. I’ve recorded sightings, but I don’t think they show up in the regional checklist (state-level checklist; there is no county-level checklist for where I’ve placed sightings). |

The regional checklists are fixed checklists. Birds are added to the regional checklists if they are sighted by 3 distinct users or more. Any sightings reported in a given region will appear as “recent sightings” on that regional page and users reporting birds in each region are ranked in that region. Hope that clarifies things! I have the same situation as Eric. Although I have posted and mapped two dozen birds in my area, I am not listed as a resident birder on the regional lists, in my case AZ and Gila County. I also noted that under the recent sightings for my county, in which I am listed, are sightings of New Jersey, Wisconsin, Virginia and Pennsylvania members.I would expect that the recent sightings listed for a region would be sightings in that region. Maybe people are visiting Gila County from all those states—but, small county that it is, I doubt it. |

One big question we get in this part of the county is What is your state/province list? Ontario list is 361 not 401. I just downloaded a life list from AVISYS – no problem. I just modified a single record to map it to Nova Scotia (Bicknell’s Thrush on French’s Mountain in Cape Breton National Park). My problem is that this bird shows on my tracked Ontario list even though I have not seen one there. How can I remove a bird from a tracked list but keep it on my list list. My Ontario list is big but not that big…. |

Mark - Great question. When you “track a list” it simply shows you how many of the birds on that list you have seen in general, but not necessarily that you’ve seen those birds in that particular region. When you map birds in a given region, however, on the corresponding regional checklist page you will then be ranked by the number of birds that you’ve mapped in that region and will see a ratio of the total number of birds on the list vs the number of birds that you’ve reported. Also, to create lists within your lifelist simply “tag” all the sighting in seen in a given region with the name of that region and you can then sort your list by that name. Tagging all the birds you’ve seen in Ontario with the “Ontario” tag will allow you to see all your Ontario birds. Hope that helps. Ben Crockett |
