Delete a sighting?

I identified a bird incorrectly. A Birdpost member corrected me. I can’t find a way to delete my original incorrect entry.

To delete a sighting, select the image/bird on your MyBirds page and you will then see a “delete” link at the left side of the page under the larger image viewer.

If this doesn’t make sense, feel free to email us at birdpost@gmail.com and we will get it solved.

Thanks!

I’ve the same problem in ‘My lifelist’. There’s a bird i’ve accidentily added with name and date but he’s not added to the map. This bird can’t deleted because there’s no delete button. My other entries that are added to map have a delete button.

Christoph – there’s a delete link. Just click on the picture you want, look at it in the left viewer, and there’ll be a “Delete” link.

Hi Jason!

Thanks for your reply. Normally you’re right, but i have one entry in my lifelist that behaves different. In the detail sight normally there are groups of entries named ‘MY xxxx SIGHTINGS:’, ‘RECENT NEW BIRDS:’ and so on. In my special case the first group is ‘RECENT NEW BIRDS:’ and therefore i can’t delete this entry because the delete link belongs to the ‘MY xxxx SIGHTINGS:’ group i don’t have. Eventually an administrator can take a look at my lifelist. It’s the tomtit who wan’t leave me ;-)

OK try it again. It should work now. If there’s no date included with the sighting, this bug is appearing. We need to fix this.

Hi – just to add to this – same problem (ie corrected name of bird, but the old bird still remains (with no delete button)). I’ll try and add data to the now incorrect siting to see if the delete button returns…

No worries -

I was able to click on the “old bird” and then add a fictional siting date – then the “delete” button returned and I was able to delete it. However a few recent sitings I want to change (winter wren for house wren etc) the problem of being unable to delete has returned.

One thing that would be very helpful in reducing wrong choice of name would be to have scientific name (in smaller font underneath the common name, even if its info only) on the iphone. Names are often different in UK. Would also be useful in “my list view” on web site

Is it possible to edit a map siting location? Some of my sitings from the iphone have ended up off the coast of Africa (!, perhaps because I didn’t wait long enough for the position to be confirmed on the iphone) and I want to try and drag the marker to the correct place. But I can seem to be able to do that under “map view” of my sitings.

Finally finally – thanks for the application, its great!

Julian

Julian, I had same issue … although not as great a distance. I could delete the sighting, as I recall, and reenter.

Thanks Mary

I’ll do that. (I was hoping to avoid re-entering the data as it sort of takes away from using the iphone).
