Hybrids and Numbers > 1000

Can common hybrids be added to the bird species lists? For example, Mallard X American Black Duck.

Also, with winter’s arrival, it’s common for my area to see large congregations of Canada Geese. However, the highest number accepted in a sighting is 999.

I agree with Eric. I have found it frustrating that you cannot enter nos. greater then 999. Also, it is not possible to enter approximations of numbers of birds sighted. The normal way is to indicate this is by using “Circa”. For example c1200. I hope the ability to be able to do this will happen soon?

It is now 9th January 2009 and I have tried to enter c2000 European Golden Plover but I`m still unable to do so?

It is now September 19th 2009 and in spite of Ben`s comment dated Jan 15th, I am still unable to enter total sightings of more than 999. Also we are still not able to enter approximate sighting numbers i.e. c1000.

In spite of what you say about taking on users requests and improving the site, why hasn`t something been done about about this simple request? It was first raised in Dec 2008!

Maurice – every request for improvements to the site costs real money. Birdpost is a free site. Please be patient with our ability to improve the site – there are tons of things we would love to do, but each fix and each improvements is very expensive to implement. We have a running list of features that we want to employ and hope to be able to employ those soon.

It may be a free site Ben and improvements expensive to implement but a requirement to be able to enter more than 1000 is a basic need? Don`t you agree? It`s been well over a year since this request was first made. I wonder how many other birders feel the same?

Thanks for your hard work Ben, and thanks for the free site! It may not be perfect but it’s a pretty neat and very useful tool.
