general conversation forum?

is it possible to have a “chat” style forum? A message board forum to talk about where to go, which reference book people like, what field guide everyone uses, etc.

James – this is a really good idea, but one that will be several weeks out, at least. We’ve got a lot of features we’re trying to implement and are trying to prioritize, but this is one we’re definitely going to consider seriously. Thanks!

I think this type of “general conversation” forum would add some activity to the site. A lot of folks do most of their “birdin” in their backyards. Would be fun if we could chat about what birds we see each day at our feeders.

A lovely idea, for instance I have 7 different varieties at my feeder all day long and they are closer that 10 feet! Great T.V. for my INDOOR cats.

@Maureen Boncey I set up the same Nature Program for my cats. When I see them first I just have to say one word and they are all immediately at the window. :-)

1) I would like to have the possibility to ask other birders in a specific set up forum topic corner about birds that I have seen and am not sure which one it is.

2) It would be great if this site could partner up with another site that contains bird recordings so that the bird info contains also a button where you can listen to its song.

Tell us any ideas you have about how we can improve or simplify Birdpost!
