Other Apps (Portable)

I know a lot of people like the iPhone, but not everyone has one. It would be great if there would be other portable apps other than the iPhone. Also, even a desktop application would be nice where we can download and store 1) our log entries that were put into BirdPost 2) Enter the data offline (quicker) and then upload it to Birdpost and 3) Download queries of where types of birds are spotted. I actually got reintroduced to birding as a result of Geocaching. As I started Geocaching, my wife and I saw all kinds of birds and started tracking them. That is when I started looking for a way to do it online (much in the same way that the geocaching website does). I couldn’t find anything and was considering developing something myself. Then I found BirdPost! Great sight and it does almost was I was envisioning. For the developer that might read this post, there is an “offline” application that I use in connection with the Geocaching.com website. It is called GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife). If lets you download the points of interest and then import them and manage them offline in your own database. It is a great little application and with some work with BirdPost.com I’ll bet it could be done here as well. Scott |

This is great feedback Scott – thanks. We will take this into account. We are always looking for the best way for our users to enter sightings into Birdpost with the least amount of effort. Stay in touch, Ben Crockett |
